Former Inspector-General of Police, (IGP) Muhammad Abubakar Adamu, has condoled with the people of Sangarin Dari village, in Kokona Local Government Area of ​​Nasarawa State, after bandits abducted a village chief, Emmanuel Omanji.

Adamu, who served as IGP from 2019 to 2021 under the Muhammadu Buhari’s administration, who expressed his condolence to newsmen on Friday,
said he was deeply saddened by the way the bandits abducted the monarch, praying that God would rescue him safely and reunite him with his family.

According to the former IGP, the bandits had become lucky in every morals, considering the manner the now kidnap innocent citizens , hence the need for action.

He said that although the security forces were making great efforts to take appropriate measures, they needed the support and cooperation of the people of Nasarawa State, because according to him that was the only way to achieve peace.

He also commended the commitment of the Nigerian security agencies in combating terrorism in various parts of Nigeria.

Recall that the traditional ruler was abducted from his residence at the wee hours of Wednesday by yet-to-be identified gunmen.

Witnesses said the gunmen stormed the community, shooting sporadically into the air and headed to the residence of the Sangariin, where they whisked him away.

It was gathered that no one was killed during the attack; however, the whereabouts of the traditional ruler remained unknown as at the time of filing this report.

Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the Command, SP Ranham Nansel, who confirmed the abduction of the royal father, said the Command’s Anti-Kidnapping Unit, the military and vigilante groups were already working to rescue the monarch and apprehend his abductors.

He said the Commissioner of Police, CP Shetima Jauro Mohammed had ordered that the traditional ruler be rescued as soon as possible.

Adamu’s tenure as IGP was marked by visionary reforms that significantly impacted the country’s security landscape.
Highlighting his achievements during his tenure many Nigerians and group praised his focus on community policing, intelligence-led security strategies, and the adoption of technology in law enforcement. These, they said, are strong indicators of his capacity for transformational leadership.
